Volunteers are needed to help stuff 43,000 runner bags for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.  Individuals or groups of any size are welcome to join this bucket brigade-style packing event, which will involve about 800 volunteers of all ages.  Packing will begin at 8:00 AM and will end when the last bag is packed (approximately 1:00 PM).  In the past, church youth groups have been a vital volunteer force in this effort! Seminar Summary: This seminar provides couples with hands-on training and applicable tools to help you gain a more godly perspective on your marriage. Topics covered include: incorporating prayer into your marriage, structuring weekly devotional time together, building accountability partners into the relationship, and accurately measuring the ongoing development of your marriage so that it progresses toward the intimate relationship God intended it to be.

Seminar Leaders: The reconciliation of Clint and Penny Bragg’s marriage after an eleven-year divorce and a distance of over 3,000 coast-to-coast miles is nothing short of a modern-day miracle. Each year, they embark on several 40-Day Marriage Ministry Mission Trips across the United States to minister to couples through churches and other organizations. Through the work of Inverse Ministries, Clint and Penny share their testimony of reconciliation and have written several publications. Their story of reconciliation has been featured on CBN’s The 700 Club, RBC Ministries Words to Live By Radio Program, and Christianity Today’s Marriage Partnership Magazine. SVdP Diocesan Councils, District Councils and parish-based Conferences throughout the United States are participating in this fundraiser. Money raised at the local level will be credited and used locally in direct service to the poor. The Friends of the Poor® Walk promises to substantially involve both the media and the general public in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s active commitment to help the poor.

Walkers elect their support of a Conference or Council and invite donors/sponsors to pledge. Walker registration is free…you can even sponsor yourself. The first annual, national walk will be held on the Fest Day of St. Vincent de Paul , Saturday, September 27, 2008, coinciding with the international celebration of the 175th Anniversary of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Gary, Inc.
